Kim Shaffer, LCPC, Counseling Services, LLC.

My name is Kim Shaffer. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have a Masters Degree in Counselor Education. I offer individual, couples and family therapy at my private practice located at 2025 Glenwood Ave, Hermon, ME. I have over 20+ years of counseling experience in a variety of settings which include, but are not limited to: a psychiatric hospital, schools, county jail, community colleges, mental health agencies and private practice. Among my areas of expertise are the treatment of depression, partner relational conflict, PTSD, anxiety, sexual disorders, ADHD, and co-occurring disorders.

I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Research consistently reveals that the most important indication of retention and success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist. My clients are very high functioning, motivated, and committed to making change in their lives. I love providing them with the tools and technique so that they can reach their potential and ultimately stop coming to therapy. I know your time and money are valuable so I try to be as structured and goal oriented as possible.

Education

I grew up in Orono, ME and completed my education at the University of Maine, receiving a Masters of Education Degree in Counselor Education with a specialization in Clinical Counseling. Also from the University of Maine, I received a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Child Development in 1978. The field of psychology is constantly evolving.
